I have spoken to Mick Purkiss and he said it was always 2 properties when he was young so this is consistent with the census info. He also mentioned that Mike Keegan lived there and that there was an old propeller on the wall in connection with his business which he believed was left behind when the Keegans moved on. Mike was the father of Rupert Keegan who was briefly a Formula 1 racing driver in the late 70's with Hesketh I recall. The family business was British Air Ferries (BAF) which ran from Southend Airport for many years.
