Hampton Barns and Barton Hall had been purchased by Arthur and Percy Bentall just before WW2 when land prices had fallen as a result of the post-war agricultural depression. They were related to the other Bentalls that farmed a lot of land the other side of the Roach. I add this as a passing reference as I'm surprised the Bentalls are not mentioned elsewhere.
