I know that the youngest of the Purkiss brothers, Gordon lived there probably in the 1970s and 80s. His older brothers Roy and Eric also lived locally. Gordon passed away in the 1990s I believe which was before I came to the area. The farm that is now owned and run by Roy's son Mick is actually a combination of 3 farms, Moats and Springs (Gordon) Biggins farm (Eric) and Gore Farm (where the cowman Bill Herscher lived). Roy lived at Hawkwell Hall farm in Rectory Road. I believe Moats and Springs had land of approximately 80 - 100 acres. Unfortunately Eric died last year aged 95 so we cannot ask him but I will make some further enquiries and see what I can find. Watch this space.
