Evening Echo Archive 01
Bygone snippets and high quality photos from the paper
This collection of memories is from the Evening Echo newspaper archive. The archive was donated earlier in the year by the Evening Echo to Rayleigh Town Museum to be distributed to interested parties such as RDCA.
Viv Irvine, who is a member of the museum and RDCA has sent us the following items she thought would be of interest.
She also sent the same material to the Evening Echo and they put some of it in the edition of Thursday 11th May 2017 (tug-of-war, sports day, "Jelly Bees", stiltwalkers).
For this article Viv has selected items from across the archive: Gt Wakering; Hawkwell; Hockley; Hullbridge; Paglesham; Rayleigh; Rochford; and Stambridge. Order of presentation is "oldest item first", starting in 1978 and finishing 1994.
The photographs are very high quality. If you want to view any of them enlarged and need instructions then click or tap here.
Enjoy, and thank you again Evening Echo.
