My name is Bruce Bradley, my dad's name was Ronald. As young kids we both worked on Potton. Dad as he got older, was employed to till the land on the island with a horse plough. I think the horse was called Ben, who stayed on the Island.  They were a great team and Dad loved that horse. After years spent with Ben, WW2 broke out and Dad went into the army. The sad thing is that Ben missed Dad and tried to get to him one day, sometime later, but sadly, got stuck in the mud and as the tide came in he unfortunately drowned.  Dad did not find out until he came back from the war.

Ron was born in Wakering and lived there till the old age of 93, and is laid to rest in Great Wakering Churchyard.
