Here are some images from Ron Ewers' photo album that I think are of interest for the site.

Ron Ewers has provided the following background for some of them:

Oakdene House (which I assume is the one shown in the photos and where the family who ran the nursery lived) was built in 1906 on the site of what is now Oaklands Mews off Rectory Road. It was built by William Lay and was surrounded by a substantial nursery.

Tom Lay, his son, married Ethel and they had a daughter Sylvia who married Ron Ewers.
