Hi ... this is a very short introduction to the brand new Community Site for Rochford District. The movie will start automatically in a few seconds.

This test is a full screen swf movie of about 12Mb in size. The site suggests a limit of 20Mb fo this type of streaming video material.

We have audio but no video - except for the sub-miniature which appears and is completely useless.

Cause to be investigated ... Cause has been found, see below. Bob 19/02/11

TESTS AND INVESTIGATIONS:

More very short swf test pieces were attached as 320x240, 400x300 and 650x480. All played simultaneously together with the first full screen movie. None of the other movies had a display that was visible - they were all the same minute size with the icons being stacked one above the other. All these extra test swf movies have now been removed.

Then, believing that the swf movie sizes were not contributing to the problem the site coding was examined.

The probable cause was found. The faulty Javascript code was not located but the output from this could be examined.

There is probably a typo coding error in the Javascript software module that generates the swf div header. In one place in the code a 20 must have been typed instead of 240. This causes the movies to be displayed as 320x20 instead of 320x240. Scaling constraints in the software take the width down in proportion to the height so the end result is a tiny image.
