In the 1970's Connaught House was used by I believe Essex County Council for young boys aged 16 to 18 years that had had been in care and Connaught House was the transition for them from being in care as a child and leaving and becomming independet at 18 years of age.

I believe but not certain that at sometime prior to this it may have been an elderly persons home.
