Gore Farm passed to Frederick and Anna Purkiss around 1923. It has previously been managed by my great-grand-father Frederick Herbert Thompson Manning. His wife was Hilda May Lilian Manning ( née Purkiss ), whose farmer had been bailiff at Barling Hall Farm. Quite how the various branches of the Purkiss family are related I have never quite figured. I went to Great Stambridge Primary School with Michael.
